This is why hugging is so important for your child’s development…

National Hugging Day!

National Hugging Day is every year  on January 21st!

WellKind School will be celebrating the powerful act of hugging in the classrooms like every year!

Maybe you have heard that HUGGING IS POWERFUL but do you know about the specific benefits that your child will be receiving during this amazing lesson?

Here is some of the information we have gathered over the years that lead to making Hugging Day a Pillar Event in the WellKind Community:

Research shows that a proper deep hug, one where the hearts are pressing together, has the following benefits:

Hugging during #NationalHuggingDay (and any other day) knowing that we are changing the world one hug at a time, provides us with a strong sense of PURPOSE AND PASSION!

Create strong RELATIONSHIPS! Hugging helps your child create connections that teach them to feel trust and a sense of safety.

Boosts EMOTIONAL GROWTH and self-esteem. From the time we’re born, our parents’ gentle touch showed us that we’re loved and special. The associations of self-worth and tactile sensations from our early years are still embedded in our nervous system as adults. The cuddles received from our parents while growing up remain imprinted at a cellular level, and hugs remind us at a somatic level of that. Hugs, therefore, connect us to our ability to self-love.

Help us maintain a HEALTHY LIFESTYLE. Hugs strengthen the immune system by regulating and balancing the body’s production of white blood cells, which keep you healthy and disease free.

Teach us GRATITUDE AND APPRECIATION because hugs show us how to give and receive.

There is equal value in receiving and being receptive to warmth, as to giving and sharing.

Create an awesome ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT because the energy exchanged between two people hugging makes both people happier and that happiness is synergistic! When a person is happy they tend to make the people around them happy as well and that in turn brings happiness to the environment! The world, the plants, and the animals all around you feel your amazing energy.

Hugging is a great BRAIN BUILDER too! Hugging increases levels of dopamine, responsible for regulating our emotional response and reward circuits in the brain, which evidence reveals is low in people with mood disorders such as depression.

National Hugging Day Book Series:

This week, our teachers visited our in-house library and chose a book from our collection to share with all WellKind Families!

Celebrate with us during our annual Hug-A-Thon safely among your immediate family members!

All you will need to do is HUG as often as you can and spread the healing POWER OF HUGS!

We truly believe that we can change the world by hugging heart-to-heart, one hug at a time.

Research shows that hugging (and also laughter) is extremely effective in healing sickness, disease, loneliness, depression, anxiety and stress.

Our goal is to give and receive 13 HUGS A DAY for emotional growth, every day!
