About the Speakers.

Colleen Penzone is a Special Education Director at the Northeast Educational Intermediate Unit 19 who oversees the Early Intervention Department.  Colleen is a PA Program-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Facilitator and supports local early childcare environments with training, development, and coaching to implement the framework with fidelity at all three tiers. She is also a Licensed Behavior Specialist with a passion for supporting students with disabilities within the typical environment.  Colleen is enrolled in the Educational Doctorate Program at Wilkes University and will be entering her dissertation phase in the fall of 2023. Colleen’s research includes inclusive settings for students with disabilities and the support and services needed for success.

Molly Weber is the Early Intervention Program Coordinator at Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit #19. Molly works directly with staff in the Early Intervention programs and area preschools with behavioral student and staff needs. Molly was previously a member of the Training & Consultation department at NEIU19 focusing on Autism, Assistive Technology, and Inclusive Practices. She has her Masters Degree in Special Education with a concentration in Autism and Assistive Technology. Molly’s passion has been with Inclusive Practices for students with disabilities with Assistive Technology. She has also transitioned into a coaching role for staff and adults in the classroom/Preschool settings with Behavior and Assistive Technology needs.

September 28th- Understanding ABCs of Behavior

We will examine Antecedents, Behaviors, Consequences, and Strategies that influence your child’s behavior. Participants will gain insight into the root cause of behavior and learn effective techniques to address challenging situations.

October 26th- How to Use Positive Language to Improve Your Child’s Behavior

Do you find yourself saying, “No”, “Stop that”, or “Don’t do that” more often than you would like? Educators use positive language at school to help children become more confident and independent. Participants will learn what positive language is and how it can be used to help your child’s behavior. 

November 30th- How to Help Your Child Understand and Label Emotions

This training will give strategies and information on helping your child understand their own emotions. We will review techniques for dealing with those “Big Emotions”.

January 25th- Understanding Early Intervention Services and Eligibility

A review of Early Intervention services delivery models and timelines. We will review how referrals are made to Early Intervention and how students become eligible for services.
